Customer Spotlight: Mario Schill

Time for another True Nutrition Customer Spotlight! Today, we’re congratulating Mario Schill, a Personal Trainer/Fitness Coach at Body Machine Fitness (check them out on Instagram at @bodymachinefitness) based out of Plano, Texas. You may have seen him recently featured on our InstaStory, where he explained his Custom Mix and all the boosts he added into it. Mario has been helping people change their lives for 10 years (You read that right, an entire decade!), and truly practices what he preaches with diet and exercise. Fun-loving, motivating and adventuresome only touch the tip of the iceberg– he also gets real with nutrition tips and doesn’t sugar-coat (no pun intended) his fitness advice. Get to know Mario a little more by reading below:

What do you do for work?:
Coach at Body Machine Fitness (Personal Training Business)

What sports/activities do you participate in?
Pretty much anything outdoors. I’m a big explorer, I appreciate a good adventure.

What got you into fitness/nutrition?
When I grew up, I lacked confidence in myself and my physique so I turned to bodybuilding. This helped me find my love for the human physique and the power of food.

How long have you been a fitness coach?
I’ve been in the fitness industry coaching for a decade. 

As a fitness coach, what is the one question you are most commonly asked?
“How do I lose weight?” and “What can I do to quickly lose body fat?” Everyone wants a magic pill to get in shape.. Unfortunately it is not that easy.

What does your nutrition and diet look like?
I am primarily following a Paleolithic lifestyle. I have done a ton of microbiome testing for my gut and found out I have many food allergies, so this is the most efficient one for me- plus, I love it! I’m not one to believe in ‘diets’ that scream ‘short term fix’ to me. I appreciate the approach of a lifestyle change.

How do your goals influence your nutrition & diet?
110%. Without proper nutrition, I wouldn’t be able to hit any of my goals- whether that is physical or physiologically due to the importance of all the micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, water, etc.) and macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fats ) your body needs to function properly.  

On an average week, what does your training regimen look like?
I work out 6-7 days a week. I think the number one way to keep a optimal physique is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) especially if your goal is to stay lean and gain lean mass. I try to do 2-3 pure strength/hypertrophy sessions throughout the week.

What advice would you give to someone who is first beginning their fitness journey?
Make goals- short term and long term. Do this for yourself and take it one day at a time. Understand it will be challenging, but anything challenging is worth-while. 

Who is someone in the fitness industry you look up to most, and why?
I have always looked up to Greg Plitt.. Very inspirational and highly motivating. Prime example of what pure grit determination and hard work truly means. 

What is your favorite thing about
You can fully customize your product to your liking, so for someone who has a crazy amount of allergies- its perfect!

What TrueNutrition products do you personally use to maintain your nutrition and dietary goals?
My favorite is my own personal protein blend which is strictly comprised of Pea Protein.  I added a digestive enzyme to break down the protein and fortified it with a MultiVitamin. I named it the “Super Mario”. I also use Sweet Potato Powder with added Carb Enzyme Boost. 

What’s in your “Super Mario” blend?
French Vanilla Pea Protein Isolate with Probiotic Boost, Protein Enzyme Boost, Essential Amino Acids, and Multi Vitamin/Mineral Boost

What is your favorite hobby/pass-time?
Anything outdoor-related, if it requires sweating, count me in! 

Favorite cheat meal?
To me there is no such thing as a “cheat meal”. I follow a well-balanced nutritional lifestyle when it comes to food. One of my go-to meals… TACOS! 

What’s a fun, weird, and/or interesting fact about yourself?
I played the cello for seven years, I have a musical ear.
