Gemma Pea Protein Isolate is a nutritious addition to any vegan or vegetarian lifestyle! Derived from yellow peas, this material is cold-processed into a refined protein powder that retains over 80% protein content by volume and a digestibility of approximately 90%. Its natural, earthy taste and aroma are best complimented by a Chocolate or Vanilla-type flavor, or when used in baking or in a real fruit smoothie. The Gemma Pea Protein Isolate can also be combined with other plant-based proteins in order to maintain a rounded, varied diet.

  • Uses: Building lean muscle. Excellent source of Arginine, Leucine, Glutamine, and other branch chain and essential amino acids.
  • Mix-ability: Mixes easily in shaker cup or blender.
  • Taste: A natural or earthy taste with a smooth mouth texture.
  • Notes: Non-GMO, Gluten-free, Soy-free, hypoallergenic.

Gemma Protein Isolate Powder is extremely high in Leucine, Arginine, and Glutamine, along with a balanced amino profile. It is clean tasting for a Pea Protein, and mixes extremely smoothly with a lighter texture than Whey powders. Gemma Protein Isolate is derived and isolated from peas and its natural protein fraction, which possesses a low level of denaturing and is very soluable (mixes very well). Gemma is NON-GMO, low allergenic and gluten free. As dairy prices continue to rise, vegetable-based products like the new Gemma Protein will begin to change the protein industry. The digestibility of this product is at approximately 90-95%. Has a slightly nutty flavor, I recommend the chocolate peanut butter flavor. Slightly gritty texture, but not bad. It mixes quickly in a shaker bottle, but does not stay mixed for long so you may have to shake often if you drink slowly. This protein makes me very gassy, but beano (alpha galactosidase) can neutralize that. I prefer the flavor and texture of this over soy.

Cheapest and healthiest vegan protein powder. I got with the natural premium flavor with either the chocolate or banana kind. Highly recommended.

Pea protein has a very distinct, strong flavor and texture. I've noticed that the vegan protein powders differ from the vegetarian ones in the mix-ablity (solubility) and temperature threshold. I found that it is a little to thick to use with liquid, but that is just my opinion. Similar to casein, it just absorbs the liquid like a sponge. Overall, I probably wouldn't order it again. I prefer the rice protein, which is similar but not as thick and strong tasting. Both are non-GMO and an excellent source of protein (24g), so I think I'll stick with the rice.

I purchased and used this protein as an alternative to whey looking for less inflammation. The product is a fine powder with a nutty smell to it. I purchased this product mixed with rice protein as all of the research I did recommended the two as a complete protein. I also occasionally mix this protein with hemp protein. The powder mixes well with water, milk, and almond milk. If you drink it straight with no flavoring or sweetener it has a nutty and not necessarily tasty flavor. But blended with fruits or anything else with flavor and the original flavor all but disappears. The protein is an excellent price compared to other options out there. I noticed no decrease in athletic performance or strength/weight gains while using this product with no whey protein. I would recommend this product to anyone avoiding animal proteins or looking to reduce overall inflammation. (ID#491616)

This is my favorite non-dairy protein. I suffer from severe IBS, and gemma protein is by far the gentlest on my stomach (I have tried all variations of dairy and egg protein as well as hemp and brown rice). Though I use whey isolate post-workout for its rapid digestibility, I mix it with gemma because I prefer the thick texture that pea protein lends to the shake. Surprisingly, pea protein produces a thick enough shake that I use it instead of casein to add texture. Gemma has fewer carbs than casein and no lactose, which is its major appeal for me. Because it has a "nutty" flavor, I really enjoy using the peanut butter flavor, but am now going to try it with vanilla and chocolate peanut butter cup. I also love it as a bedtime treat with some grass-fed, full-fat yogurt. In general, if you're looking for a nondairy protein with a low carb count that's moderately filling and provides a thick texture, it's a very good option. (ID #486825)

I have purchased this three times now (mixed with rice protein). I get mine unflavored and the taste was not pleasant when I first tried it but I wanted to use something other than whey, and one that didnt have extra coloring and flavoring so this is what I chose. After using it for a little while I got used to the taste and it doesnt even phase me. It is my go to for breakfast and after workouts.

I have and currently use this. And I have to say it's best protein I've used. One, the amino profile is almost better than whey but it's a ton cheaper. Two, it's really thick (this is a positive for me). And three, I actually like the earthy taste it has( it almost tastes like peas unflavored) I'll admit that whey tastes a bit better, but a complete protein this lean at this price, I'll stick with gemma for sure.

I'm lactose intolerant so I got this. It's the best vegan protien powder I ever used. I can't believe some people hate the taste. I use it unsweetened/unflavored and it is GOOD. I might even like the taste of it. It's mixablity isn't the best because it ends up very granulated, but there's something about the texture which is very nice. I love it.

Great stuff! Very nervous to try this since it is cheap and I bought whey concentrate high grade (horrible IMHO). Like a comment before stated, it tastes like old fashioned EAS protein, sort of a grainy taste and texture obviously from being derived from a vegetable. Mixes amazing I used only 1/2 cup of milk for 1/2 scoop and I could have easily put in a full scoop and it would have been barely thick. Also be sure to get heavy flavoring and I suggest chocolate (not premium). Awesome stuff will definitely buy this again!
